- We will store
a harmless cookie on your browser, if you use our message boards.
This keeps track of what messages are new since your last visit,
and remembers your forum name if you used it for a post. That's
all, no "evil cookies". You can disable cookies in your
browser and still post - you'll just have to remember your last-seen
messages when you read, and re-enter your name when you post.
LisaFitness does not use cookies on any other portion of our site.
- Third-party
application providers, advertisers, or information providers may
use cookies and may have different privacy policies. All such
third-party providers have clickable links or images on our site;
please visit their sites to review their own privacy policies.
We only use providers whom we believe have acceptable policies,
but the specifics of their privacy policies will differ from ours.
- Neither your
e-mail address or other personally-identifiable information is
ever disclosed or sold by us. But if you post with a valid e-mail
address, either on our message boards or in our guestbook, someone
else's SPAMbot might come by any time and "harvest"
email addresses from the webpages. Not our fault. Many internet
users, including the webmaster and site owner here, set up alternate,
valid email addresses through various web-mail accounts, in order
to have a "public", throwaway address to use when posting,
to minimize SPAM coming to your primary e-mail address from this
sort of activity. We recommend this for your posts to LisaFitness
and other message boards, if you want to protect your address
from SPAM. We also recommend that you visit CAUCE,
the Committee Against Unsolicited Commercial E-mail, if you want
more information about protecting yourself from SPAM.
- If you explicitly
ask a question in a forum, the site owner, staff, webmaster, or
other posters may take that as an invitation to reply to you by
e-mail. That is not to be considered Unsolicited e-mail. Participation
in the message boards, if posting with a valid e-mail address,
means you have explicitly agreed to receive mail in response to
that post. If you don't want to get a reply, don't post an address.
- Same applies
if you use the automated Pilates schedule link - if you just send
the blank e-mail which that link generates, only a machine responds.
The site owner gets a copy of what you sent, though - so if you
ask a question, a person might read and answer, since you're inviting
a reply by writing a comment or question.
- We won't
put you on any list for ongoing mailings, though. Even if you
did leave an address in a post, or use the automated response
links. Any mailing lists or announcements or any other mass mailing
will always only be in response to you explicitly opting-in to
our mailing list. Presently, we do not have any mailing lists,
but if we do start any, they will be on an exclusively opt-in
basis.
- The same
as any other site, our website software logs the IP address and
hostname of your computer, and basic information about your browser
software. We never sell or disclose this information.
- We also use
software to help us analyze how you found the site, what pages
you visited, and what type of system and screen resolution you
have. This includes a 3rd-party tracking application to help us
learn about who visits our site. This tells us aggregate information
about what platforms people use, and which search engines and
other websites helped them find our site. If we start getting
lots of visitors using Netscape 6 on Linux, we want to make sure
the site works ok on that platform. If you are using Macintosh,
we want you to enjoy the site - so this information helps the
webmaster design and test the site. We use this to improve the
experience and content for you. None of this information is sold
or used for marketing by us. However, some of it, including recent
visitors' IP addresses or host server names, is visible to anyone
who clicks on the "planet logo" at the bottom of our
home page. The privacy policy from this provider, extreme-dm.com,
can be found here.
There is no personally-identifiable information gathered through
either LisaFitness or this site analysis provider.
- IP addresses
of our message board posters are logged and stored with each post,
in our posting database (in addition to our web server logs.)
These are never displayed to site visitors, and there are no tracking
applications (other than standard web server logging) running
on our message board pages. We reserve the right to maintain these
records indefinitely, and alternately, to discard them at any
time. We do not guarantee a minimum or maximum retention period
of this information.
- Identification
of a particular poster's IP address will only be released to legal
authorities with due process of law. IP addresses may be shared
with other Internet Service Providers as part of an investigation
into abusive posting or e-mails, or to resolve technical problems.
Policy as described above last updated May 14,
2001 from original April 24, 2001 version. Principal changes were
to disclose more information about our third-party content providers
and site analysis tools, provide more information about fighting
SPAM, and clarify the retention period of IP information. No actual
change to our operational policy.
